eLearning Experiences

One of my first semester papers at Hamburg University was written on a new type-writing machine, 1992. That was a luxury for me! The typewriter had a small screen, so I could correct my text before printing it, and it had a memory, so I didn´t have to print at once! Hand written papers were going out of fashion at the university at that time, anyway.
I decided to buy my first computer 1995 – the one with a boot for small discs only… A couple of months later rapid development of hardware and software changed my new (old) computer into just another typewriter – with a bigger screen only…
I didn´t get on with the virtual reality then. Meanwhile I had to give up studying, as I was very busy with the basic, physical reality of rasing a couple of my kids.
I took up my studies again, three semesters ago, and the computerised university is being suffocating me since then! I have learned to use Word and Powerpoint; I take and overwork digital fotos; I even use my e-mail address and visit some internet pages – but the amount of things I do not know is overwhelming. It is fascinating, too, so I´m very eager to learn to surf in this new dimension of our present world.
The quick changes in the world seem a little bit scary to me, but I do believe that if some people are able to develop those many technological inventions, the others can at least try to understand them.
